I know there are similar posts, but I never found my answer. 🙄 Soooo, I was wondering which math classes will count towards the BCMP G.P.A.

Is there a list somewhere? I'm a math minor, so will all of them count? (College algebra, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Calculus 2, Calculus 3, Probability & Stats, Probability, Engineering math, Introduction to Stochastics)

Also, will grades transferred to my university count in the AMCS G.P.A.?

Thanks! 🙂 Anything is appreciated!

All college/university courses you have taken will count. The concurrent enrollment high school/community college trig class I took counted. They all count. Oh and if you happen to have classes that didn't transfer to your current school, they still count for AMCAS.

Thanks for everyone's reply!! 🙂 But I am still unclear about one thing... 🙄

So, what you are saying is that ANY class that I took at a 2-year college over one summer that transferred to my 4-year university WILL count towards my AMCAS G.P.A even though it did not count towards my 4-year university G.P.A.? 👍

I know some people who are premed that shrug off their summer courses at a 2-year college and tell me "Oh, as long as I get a C I'll get credit for it." I'm guessing that's a bad thing.... :scared:

I only regret not taking more concurrent stuff in Highschool- I knew I was going to Rice and they wouldn't count so I didn't take the max I could. A couple more easy A's on the transcript would be super welcome.

From AMCAS:

Course Work Overview When entering course work, you must include information and corresponding grades for every course you have ever enrolled in at any U.S., U.S. Territorial or Canadian post-secondary institution, regardless of whether credit was earned, and including any courses removed from your transcripts or GPA as a result of academic bankruptcy, forgiveness, or similar institutional policies.
This includes, but is not limited to:
· Courses from which you withdrew.
· Courses for which you received a grade of "Incomplete" and for which no final grade has been assigned.
· Courses that have been repeated.
· Courses that you failed, regardless of whether they have been repeated.
· Courses in which you are currently enrolled or expect to enroll in prior to entering medical school.
· Remedial/developmental courses.
· College-level courses you took while in high school even if they were not counted toward a degree by any college.
· Courses taken at an American college overseas.
· Courses removed from your transcripts or GPA as a result of academic bankruptcy, forgiveness, or similar institutional policies.

THose people who shrug it off are screwing themsevles. All classes taken EVERYWHERE as long as its at a college even a trade school count towards the amcas GPA. every class you have taken at any college period count. Which is why often peoples AMCAS gpa is much lower then their actual GPA. the way your 4 year school calculates your GPA has nothing to do with amcas and the 4 year gpa is often much different then amcas gpa. You can read the amcas 2010 application guide and everything will be spelled out for you about grades if you dont believe this. Just a note never just go on what other pre meds say they often dont know themselves, even people on here. Id alwasy recommend double checking with something like amcas when possible, for example this case.
