The even numbers on one otherwise white regular die are painted blue, while the perfect squares on a second regular die are painted blue. What is the probability that both dice will turn up blue when rolled together?

answer is (1/2)(1/3)= 1/6

Shouldn't be like (1/2)(1/3) + (1/3)(1/2)= 1/3 ? since first one can be an even number and second one be a perfect square or first one can be a perfect square and second one an even number! Why don't we count in these two possibilities this time?

The rolling of two die are independent events of each other. Rolling two at the same time is the same thing as rolling one and then rolling the other. So the probability of rolling the first one blue is 1/2 and the 2nd is 1/3 so you just multiply.

Well the two die are different. One has only even numbers painted blue and the other only has perfect square painted blue.
