This is probably a dumb questions, but can someone please explain this problem from the Harcourt practice test? I don't follow their explanation. (Apparently my brain is now officially fried.)

If f(x)=3^x and f(a)=5, what is the value of f(2a)?

the only "dumb questions" are the ones you DONT ask.

if f(x)=3^x, and f(a)=5, then 3^a=5 and 3^2a = (3^a)^2 = (5)^2 = 25

is the answer 25?

-hope this helps sweathart.

PS-good luck to you all, inshallah we all do well!🙂

It is due to a property exponents

x^ab = (x^a)^b ->
3^2a = (3^a)^2
= 5^2
= 25
