Hi everyone,
I was in a bind as one of my LOR writers went MIA so to replace them I got the head of the Math/Science department to write me an LOR. Like the title states just wondering if Math will count as a Science professor LOR. I had him for Calculus.

EDIT**
So does anybody know where I can find info on what schools consider a science LOR? I have looked and it seems like they all just say “science professor.” Do I probably just need to call? Or does anyone know where I can find up to date info on this?

I wouldn't think so, but check with your schools.

I wouldn’t think so either but considering that math is included in sGPA, there may be a chance

He's the head of the math and science department so maybe it would work. Some schools are more picky about letters than others so look into that.

I’ve looked on schools websites and most say something along the lines “Two science Letters required.” There’s no real specification of what science is... I’ve emailed a few schools so I guess I’ll wait and see.

Some schools are stubborn and firmly require bio, chem, or physics. Some may accept any letter for any class that counts towards your science GPA. Keep in mind that generally, it must be somebody who taught you in a class and assigned you a grade.

Please check my edit update 🙂 thanks!

You have to email each school which you are interested in. I did that because I initially considered asking an engineering or computer science professor, and if that were acceptable, I wanted to make sure I had it in writing.
