I know a lot of medical schools require a year of math. My first term of college I took a math placement test and was put into Calculus II. Will schools see my semester of Calc II and see it as a year of math since it assumes competency in Calc I or do I actually have to take another semester of math? If so, can I take any math class or should I take a class that is more upper division than Calc II? Calc III would be horrible.

Do you have AP credit from taking Calc I that will show up on your college transcript? If so, you're probably fine--most schools that require math accept AP credit if it's on your college transcript. If not, you'll probably have to take another actual math class. There aren't any med schools that I'm aware of that require above Calc II (only two or three even require Calc II) so there's no need for you to take Calc III. Take statistics if you need another college math class.

Just to point something out: For the vast majority of students, Calc II was harder than Calc III. It definitely was the case for me. So, taking Calc III might not be "horrible" if you took Calc II and did reasonably well in it. Many of my friends made C's in Calc II but ended up making high A's in Calc III. Of course, this also depends on who your instructor is.

In my opinion, Calc III was pretty interesting, and wasn't too hard either. If you're taking Calc II, I would go ahead and try to take Calc III as well... a lot of the material actually seemed pretty useful (espcially if you want to go into research or something)
