Math =/= Science?!?!?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Some schools allow exceptions, you should contact each school to find out.

Is this a problem with certain schools or are you finding this to be a general rule?

Do you have ANY bio or chem prof letters?

If a lot of schools are saying that math is not legit, then you need another letter ASAP or.... start thinking about the next cycle, i guess.

If it's only a handful of schools, then you could ditch them, and add more schools after LOR requirement research.

That has actually really helped me. When I was applying to a combined BS/MD program, they asked for the usual letters of recommendation, and I had 2 letters from chemistry faculty members and one from my linear algebra professor. I was very worried math was considered a science. It's true, though, most schools do not seem to consider math a science. I guess it affects some people negatively. :\

I wish the OP had left the question up, but as a science major turned math teacher turned student, I can tell you that Math most definitely is a science; in fact, it is the purest science (just a cartoon, but it's totally right).

What it might not be, in the context of premed applications is a basic science or lab science or something like that, which you may need for the application. Again, I wish we had that original question...
