Hello,

Not all schools list their "acceptance" fees on their website.

If anyone knows how much certain schools ask for up front to hold your seat, could u please post here on this thread?

Really interested in SCO in particular.

SCO, PCO, NECO, and ICO all have a $500 deposit. They each have different refund policies, but SCO will refund $400 up until some date in April (can't remember exactly).

SUNY and OSU also have $500 fees-- SUNY's is 100% refundable if requested in writing before April 1st I believe, and $475 of OSU's is refundable before May 15th.

It's preposterous not every school would have a 100%-refund policy to a certain date. "Make up your mind immediately, or potentially kiss good-bye a year of your life (or,... just slip us some money)." Among non-refundable seat-holding charges, supplemental-application fees (N.E.C.O. doesn't even have a supp. app.; they just demand cash, like the mafia), and $30,000.00/year tuitions, a number of optometry colleges have a firm kick to the balls headed their way.

Arizona's is $1000, and you can get back $100 dollars as long as you notify them you are not attending 30 days before orientation starts..

Thats $900 bucks down the drain.🙁

Wow, that seems outrageous.

pco, western, puco all have $500, nonrefundable marticulation fees, and if i remember correctly, novas is $250, also nonrefundable

UIWSO has a NONrefundable 500 fees.
ICO has partial/full refundable 500 fees.

SCCO's fee is either $1500 non refundable (you are really sure you're going) or $750 with $250 being refundable if you decide to go elsewhere. Of course if you do go, the deposit amount is credited towards tuition.

[FONT=geneva, arial, sans-serif]Students who accept an offer of admission to the IU Doctor of Optometry program are required to pay a non-refundable enrollment deposit of $500.00. If the student enrolls in the IU School of Optometry, the deposit will be applied to the student's tuition. If the student does not enroll, the deposit is not refunded..

Those who are interested in Puerto Rico, I heard it's $1000 applied toward tuition, and if you withdraw, you only lose $125. They didn't mention about a deadline to withdraw.

How is $125.00 "only"? It's only 12.5% of the total down-payment, but that doesn't make it a small figure to lose.

:eyebrow: It's a relative term. Certainly you must agree that $125 is much better than the usual non-refundable $500, $750, $900, and *gasp* $1500.

By the way, SCO will refund $400 out of the $500 up until April 30th. Not that the OP probably cares anymore because he just got ACCEPTED! I just read your post. Congrats, DawgOD! 😀

on the plus side, if there is one, that $500-1500 dollar deposit represents $500-1500 dollars off your tuition that you won't be paying intrest on forever. cha-ching!
