I'm writing a paper on cognitive deficit in schizophrenia and I found an article about the matrix reasoning portion of the WAIS-III. I've taken the WAIS but for the life of me I can't remember what it entails, and I want to describe it in my paper. I can't find a description of it online. Is it the test where you're shown a page with a number of pictures or patterns arranged in a grid and you have to choose, out of four possible answers, which picture fits in the missing space? I think that's it, but it would look awfully stupid if I were wrong, so I thought I'd ask.

edit: Also I'm really frustrated because I can't find a study that is centered specifically on WAIS scores in people with schizophrenia. They are mostly measuring other things and mention in passing that they used the WAIS as an assessment of cognitive function. I wish I could find an article that explained, ok this is the normal score range for each subtest, and this is how people with schizophrenia performed. but no, that would actually make my life simple.

Yes, you have the right subtest in mind.
