I took most of my prereqs between 8-11 years ago.

I feel confident that I can score high on the MCAT. But given the age of my prereqs, will AMCAS filter me out automatically?

Thank you

There doesn't seem to be an expiration for sciences classes, at least not for AMCAS. Some of the schools may have one though, so check the web sites for the schools in which you are interested. Most of schools have a definite expiration for MCAT scores.

Not normally, but if you are concerned you can contact the schools that you wish to appy to. Some of mine will be 11-12 years old when I apply since I graduated from HS early. Good luck. 🙂

I did my intro physics classes more than 10 years ago, and am applying this application cycle. No schools have suggested that they have a problem with it. I have worked as a physics teacher more recently, though.

Have you done any recent science work? If so, I bet you'll be fine. If you really haven't touched any science in a decade, though, they may start to worry.

some schools do have hard cutoffs for the age of pre reqs. Brown comes to mind, as does Einstein. There have got to be others, too. It's definitely a school specific issue (ie, amcas doesn't care)

I've often read here on SDN that if you have been out of school for a while, take some upper level biology courses at prove that you've still got the academic skills. Unless a school has a policy about the age of prereqs, I feel that some As in a handful of science classes and a good MCAT will prove you have the required knowledge and abilities.
