So what happens may 1st? Do most schools send out decisions on that DAY? Does SDN internally combust and their servers catch on fire? Do people just type in caps for the entire day? haha

but seriously, how many schools let out their decisions then? I was under the impressions that most were rolling...

I didn't know there was any significance to that day to be completey honest. The only important day in May is May 15th, which at this point you should know.

Actually now that I think about it, I'd imagine most schools would have already given out a majority of their acceptances because May 1st doesn't seem like it gives applicants a lot of time to weight their options. I could be wrong though since the AMCAS rule says schools are mandated to give students at least 2 weeks to decide what they want to do with an acceptance.

The only significance to that day that I'm aware of is that it's Case Western's deadline for holding multiple acceptances because they start pretty early. I think this is the exception though, not the rule. Most let you hold acceptances until May 15th.

Schools that start on or before July 30th can actually set their own withdraw-by deadlines. (Schools like Case as in the above example.)
