Mayo is my #1 choice dream school. 😀

So here is my question:

Does Mayo allow people to do their clinical years in AZ? Or is that just a rumour?

They have a branch in Scottsdale, AZ and another in Jacksonville, FL where you can do various clinicals. I'll be applying there in a few years for sure since it sounds like with the small class size, everyone gets some sort of financial aid. However its hard to get into contact with a Mayo alumni since there aren't as many of them around. I'm sure somebody else here could expound and enlighten more on this topic. Cheers.

I should also add that if you do residency at Mayo med school.......

You are able to opt to do your residency at their Fl or Az clinics. A former USF COM grad did that. He was, of course, at the very very top of his class. He did a family med residency at Mayo, and didn't have to move to Mn to do so cuz they made it where you can do your residency specifically at the hospital in Fl or Az.

I'm thinking for med school, it probably is the same way.

You can't go to Mayo without moving to MN. At least for a short while.

The first two years are in MN. During the clinical years rotations can be done in FL or AZ. The Mayo clinic in Rochester is awesome and you should seriously consider taking advatage of any (clinical) time in MN.

Not saying Scottsdale and Jacksonville aren't great too... 😀

I am a current second year med student at Mayo. Students can do rotations at the Mayo Clinics in Florida or Arizona. Additionally, the research block in the 3rd year can be done in those locations as well. Mayo pays for one away rotation (i.e. travel, room, etc.) and there are plenty of scholarship opportunities for international rotations in developing countries as well.

The medical school and clinic here in Rochester are truly amazing. It was a great decision to come here. Classmates and administration couldn't be any better.

Feel free to PM with any questions.
