How does the mcat two year attempt limit work? Is it based on the January- September testing year? Or is it two years based on your first test date?

For example, if it is based on the January - September testing year someone could test:
- 08/25/2021
- 09/12/2021
- 03/24/2022
- 09/11/22
- 01/05/23
Because though this is five attempts total, only the first 4 are within the “two consecutive testing year” window

However, if it were to be off the person’s first test date (I.e. 08/25/2021) they would only have 4 attempts between 08/25/2021-08/25/2023 which means the 01/05/23 date wouldn’t be possible.

Just asking because have had awful luck with sickness/unexpected situations coming up and needing to cancel last minute which counts as attempts, so wanting to figure out and gain clarity on this. Any help would be appreciated!

Don't know what counts as 2 years, but I do think that rescheduling doesn't count as an attempt.

Now, let's talk about the elephant in the room, shall we?
