I was wondering if anyone has any info. on the PCAT and how this would correlate to the MCAT. I've scored in the 93rd percentile on the PCAT and will be taking the MCAT. Can I expect any relationship? For example, if you know someone who score X on the PCAT, they scored X X X, J-? on the MCAT.

Thanks!!

From what I've heard through friends, the PCAT and DAT are VERY easy compared to the MCAT. My cousin took the DAT and then the MCAT and her scores were very different. She scored above the 90th percentile on the DAT, and Harvard sent her a letter offering her a spot(this was around '89). But everything else behing equal, the MCAT is the mother of all standardized tests. You have to go into this test with a militant attitude. I'm not trying to discourage you, just don't get too happy about your PCAT score and expect there to be strong positive correlation with how you will do on the MCAT. It could be the same and it could not be the same. Ultimately it comes down to what you know and how you apply it. Good luck though!

Imtiaz,

Thanks for the info. I am looking to see if any has taken both, and what were their scores in each test. I'm trying to get a idea, if any if at all, a relationship of scores.

Thanks!!

Well, I didn't take the pcat, but I took some practice exams and did really well (my friend and I studied together, he's going to pharmacy school.) However, I did take the OAT (optometry addmissions test,) and scored the 90th percentile over all and even perfect score in physics. This was not the case with my mcat score. Not trying to discredit all the other exams similar to the mcat, but realistically the mcat is by far more difficult. This is due to its testing style. Your score depends not only on mastering the material, but also on how much you've practiced (taking exams and doing the problems.) Good Luck!!!

Noryb,

If you don't mind, what was your MCAT score? I scored in the 99% in the Chem. section and 98% in the bio. I am taking the MCAT and am trying to tailor my studying to my weakness. Any info. would be great.

TX!

Why can't you just take a practice MCAT and see how it compares to your PCAT scores? I believe that there isn't a strong correlation between PCATs and MCATs. Give it a try and see if you will match the same 99% percentile in the biological sciences and physical sciences sections.
