Hi Everybody..

Here is my story. I studied this past summer for the MCAT and took it 8/18.
My score:

11-physical sciences
9-verbal
6 😱 - bio!

For some reason the bio felt hard to me during the exam too, and maybe it was a fatigue issue, but I am going to train myself to do better on all the sections.

I need some good strategies for study bio.. obviously.. It was the subject I studied the least, but any tips and strategies would be great.

I am going to retake in January.

Thanks for your input and suggestions.

I would print off the AAMC topics list for Bio and go through each. Get out your textbooks (or Google videos) for each subject for which you're not 100%.
Your PS score is fine, so you are probably adept as passages. Once you get the content down, you should be golden!
Good luck!

Thanks, I will do more bio practice in general (I love physiology/anatomy/biochem, it is the molecular biology/genetics knowledge I know I need to focus (which of course showed up) AND LEARN ALL ORGANIC- made this mistake)

Also, shout out to TBR for solidifying my physical sciences, will use them again because I didn't finish all the passages 😳 Hopefully raising it higher than 11. (not complaining, just saying 🙂)

Any other suggestions? (Endurance suggestions? Sometimes my concentration wanders- it did towards the end of the exam, I just wanted to be done. Anybody have tips?)

Did you do a bunch of full-length practice tests? If not, start there.

Also, if you didn't take the full breaks during the exam, I would highly recommend that. Drink water, eat a snack, walk around a little; just generally refresh so you can start eat section anew. I found the EK advice to take a 5s breather between each verbal helped keep me somewhat on task for that beast of a section. 🙂

I did maybe 3-4 actual full lengths. (Kaplan) I did all of the physical sciences AAMC exams (just by section because I thought it was my weakest.

Planning on buying some TBR exams and doing all of the AAMC (understanding they might not reflect my score accurately for the physical sciences, but I will save them for last).

Decided I will spend 2 months just taking and reviewing my exams. (obvs with content review to understand what I do wrong.)

I did use the EK advice and took breaks, I think I didn't train myself to last the whole thing thats why my score declined towards the end (wanted to get out of there).. not going to make this mistake 🙁

Buy TPR biology. Read it twice then read EK Bio. Take tons of practice tests and you better get at least a 13 BS.
