Hopefully Goro will weigh in, but in all of my DO and MD interviews everyone said that score is better off balanced, or you need to have a valid excuse for a skewed one (like ESL for low VR).
I agree a balanced score is what seems to be preferred...but I have also heard some admissions folks say that of the three sections, BS and VR are considered more important than PS. Idk if any school just focuses on one section regardless of the overall score though.
I can't tell u for sure but I had a 25 (7/7/11) for my second take and I'm pretty sure the 11 in BS is the only thing that saved me from being rejected to the school I got into.
Me personally, yes. Overall, the total score is important at my school, but we cut some slack to ESL people who score lower on the VR portion (for example, an Taiwanese immigrant who gets a 6/10/10 is fine). I personally get worried when I see a native English speaker get a VR6.
