I am scheduled to take the MCAT this weekend. I have already rescheduled it once, and I would like to reschedule it again but it is too late to cancel it or reschedule it.

I am wondering, does the first time I rescheduled it count as an "attempt"? I am worried about this because I do not want to exceed the three times I am allowed to schedule the test a year. I have rescheduled it once, will be a no show to the one this weekend and will need to schedule it one more time in September when I will actually take it and have it scored.

Will I be able to reschedule it for September without any problem?

Also, since I cannot get my money back should I just take the test and void it so I can at least get practice? It will count as one of my attempts regardless so I am thinking maybe I should just take it and void.

I would advise at least taking it and voiding. Might as well get a feel for the real deal and then at least you're not wasting ~300 dollars. But idk about the cancellation counting as an attempt. I would assume it doesn't

I know this is stupid but the first time I rescheduled, it was because I thought taking it on April 1st would be bad luck. So I rescheduled it to April 23rd. However, now that it's this weekend I still don't feel ready. I will probably just apply a year later now and take it in September so I have the summer to study for it.

I am confused why pretty much everyone on this forum advises not to take it and void. So I was trying to decide whether I should still take it for practice, now that I can't get a refund anyways

I am in the same boat as you. I went ahead and took it and voided. It was good though because I got to see the kind of questions that came up on the real thing. You only get 3 attempts to take it per year. Cancellations don't count as an attempt, whereas Voiding does count as one of your 3 for the year without medical schools viewing it as an "attempt." In other words, when you take it again it you really only have ONE score that medical schools can actually see.

I'm in the same boat. I have it this weekend and I am most likely going to go and void. How sure are you that this won't count against anything? i am just asking b/c i've done stupid things in the past b/c i thought they wouldn't count based off of what people told me and they did (taking a summer class for practice)

Straight from AAMC:

Information from voided exams is not included on any score reports that are sent to medical schools. However, indication of a voided exam will be displayed in the MCAT Score Reporting System after the scheduled score release date for you to see.
