Just a quick question...I I wanted to know if anyone here took both the MCAT and the DAT and applied to med schools as well as Dental schools.

Yes it can be done, but I would recommend trying to figure out which you want to do before hand as it's much less work. At the very least it would be a good idea to figure things out before the interview process.

Doesn't the AADSAS application ask if you're applying to any other professional schools? It would look really bad if you're applying to both med and dent since one of the big things they're looking for is dedication to dentistry.

Straddling the fence gets a little uncomfortable. Why not decide which you want? Neither ms nor ds do well with ambivalence since they figure you are serious about neither.

I'm def going dentistry, I just wanted to know if anybody did both because most of the pre reqs are the same.

May as well add "teaching biology" to the mix in case none of the above work out....

because you have to take physics for law huh? NyCzPeter might want to look into another career. perhaps janitorial, paper delivery or somthing of that nature.

Don't forget law

I haven't seen too many Law programs that have the same pre-reqs as med/dent/pharm/pod programs. I believe that is why doc toothache said then don't forget those others. Law - I don't believe biochem, organic, gen chem, etc. are reqired. 🙂

Well its due to the fact that law essentially has no requirements, and if he throws in med/pharm/pod/vet as doc toothache suggested, he may want to toss law into the mix as well.

No its ok, I got into Dental school already, you on the other hand still have yet to receive your first interview. So feel free to apply to whatever you want, but in the likely case that you get nothing but rejections, I got a job for you at my restaurant.

no need to pull his leg ppl! 🙄
I know some people applying to Case that take MCAT - they have a special 5 year program to get an MD-DMD degree.

Wow that program looks interesting. I guess anybody who got into that program and who wanted to do OMFS wouldn't have to do the 6 year program, only the 4 year one.

working at mcdonalds doesn't make it "your" restaurant but thanks for the job offer. good luck with the burgers and fries though.

Even if you did that you wouldn't be saving any time over a traditional 6 year OMFS program...

5 year DDS/MD + 1 year internship (for medical license) + 4 year OMFS residency = 10 years

4 year DDS + 6 year OMFS/MD = 10 years
