Hey guys! New user and quick question. I was recently admitted into a US med school with a sub-par MCAT (26-28 range). When residency applications roll around in the future, will I be scrutinized for my MCAT score like when I was applying for med school? Or do they focus solely on on your med med school credentials for residency apps? Thanks for your help =)

No. By then they'll have another standardized test to judge you by  (Step 1).

No.

Nope, congrats on getting in though! 🙂

The MCAT won't matter by the time you apply for residencies, much like how high school grades don't really matter when you apply for med schools.

Your clinical grades, LORs, and Step 1 will play the biggest roles.

Do Medical schools look at your SAT scores? No, it doesn't mean much to them. Residencies don't have use for a test that displays science competency when they need to know what kind of doctor you are/will grow to be.

Depends on if you're applying through TMDSAS or not😀
For those who don't know, TMDSAS asks for your SAT, ACT, and high school class rank... None of those are verified, they're just self-reported
But I understand your point of course

I was a little worried when I saw that on the TMDSAS (high school wasn't too academically favorable to me).

The consensus on SDN seems to be that med school adcoms don't give high school stuff any consideration.

ERAS (residency application) does not ask for your MCAT score.

nope! just another, different test to worry about 🙂

just try not to do sub-par on that one and you'll be fine!
