I am a Biology student, and I was told that I have to take the MCAT exam. If that is so, then what is the average score?

Where are you applying? I'm from Canada, and I know you need the MCAT to appl yto University of Guelph in Ontario, however, I'm pretty sure in the US you have to write your GRE, but that would be something an American would have to answer for you.

The MCAT is more of a med school thing... but, I did write my MCAT, so if you have any questions about the test itself, let me know.

If you're a Biology student in the US, there's a good chance you were told you have to take the MCAT because -- in my experience -- most Biology students are pre-med. At least, that's how it was at my school; all the professors constantly talked about the MCAT because that's what the majority of students were facing. However, if you're looking at US vet schools, then I believe all of them accept (and even prefer) the GRE. In fact, most US schools won't even accept the MCAT -- you MUST take the GRE. I am a General Biology major. And my advisor told me that I had to take the MCAT exam. But I was never told about the GRE exam. Do the undergrad school give the exam or do I have to take it some where else. I am applying to UPENN, Tufts, and Cornell.

You'll register for it through ETS and it will be given at a computer-based testing site. When you register (online or phone) you'll get some choices of centers near you. If you're applying this year, you'll want to take the test as soon as you are ready, but before the Oct. 1 application deadline.

I can't remember how much it cost, but it isn't prohibitive, especially considering how much it costs per school to apply. As far as when you should take it, most people take it sometime in the year before they apply. So if you're shooting for class of 2013 you'd probably want to take it sometime between this Oct and next Oct. 1.

I am the class of 2010 at my undergrad.

If you want to go straight to vet school from undergrad you should take the GRE sometime your junior year (probably over the summer going into your senior year). My advice is to take it early in the summer, if you don't like your score take it again and just be done with it by the time classes start and applications are due in the fall. The GRE may be changing sometime in the near future so I wouldn't take it now if your not applying this year.
