I'm taking MCAT this summer. I heard that even if application deadline for most of the schools is december, I don't have much chance getting accepted for sept 2005 because of the rolling basis admission. Is it totally waste of money to apply this year? Should I wait until next year?

Thankyou so much.

The schools account for the fact that many people take the August MCAT. Fill out your application anyway and your scores will be forwarded immediately upon receipt.

So long as your GPA is good and you do well on the MCAT, you'll have as good a chance as anyone.

You can still apply to the schools before you get the MCAT score, and they can sit on your transcripts and application until your MCAT score comes in, at which point you will receive interview invitations within a couple of weeks. You will not really be at much of a disadvantage at all, as long as you get the other parts of the app done earlier, like Septemberish or maybe earlier for certain schools.

My suggestion would be to apply early the way everyone suggested by don't apply to any "backup" schools but rather only apply to schools you really want to attend.

My reasoning is that if you apply using the August MCAT and are only accepted to a backup school, you'll always wonder whether you could have made it to your higher choices had you applied in June/July. You'll wonder that forever because you're then forced to attend your backup school. Not a very happy situation.

If you only apply to your top choices though, you'll either be happy you got into a top school or you'll not get in at all and will be able to apply early during the next cycle.
