Hey, I'm looking to apply to a couple MPH schools this year. I am straight from undergrad. I haven't taken the GRE and it may be too late to do it for this year's cycle, but I have the MCAT.

Do schools generally accept the MCAT instead of the GRE for non-M.D.'s? Does anyone know any specific schools that do? (This wasn't very clear on some of the websites I looked at and I have heard some hearsay that the MCAT would be acceptable)

I don't know if all schools accept the MCAT as a replacement admission exam but I know that Emory RSPH does. There's a couple kids in my class who applied and were accepted here with an MCAT score in the low 30s.

Emory takes it for sure, check each program website or maybe through SOPHAS where it says "test required"

GRE scores only take a month to come back, and I applied with both MCAT and GRE - some schools prefer the GRE and it would be odd to limit the places you can apply to because you haven't taken a test. I found the GRE to be easier than the MCAT and much easier to prepare for.

I am in the same boat...I have found that most MPH programs will accept your MCAT score instead of GRE.

Go to SOPHAS.org and search the programs through the directory of schools. They will have an option for each school to see test requirements. A few schools will only accept MCAT scores if you are already a healthcare professional, but I have only encountered a few like that.

Worst case, just call the programs for any information you might need. I have found that to be the best option.

Good luck!
