I'm currently now a junior in my spring semester. I am applying to medical school my senior year of college. I plan on taking the mcat either in august or the latest, september. Is it okay that I am taking the mcat late? Also, in applying next year, what would the timeline for my application be (when to get recs, apply, ect.)

So you're taking it a year before you apply? In that case, it doesn't matter when you take it. It only hurts you if you take it late during the year you apply.

To reiterate:

September MCAT -> June application = good

June Application -> Septenber MCAT = bad

So you are applying for fall 2014? ...as in the cycle that opens in three months? I took the mcat in September and was complete in October and have acceptances for fall 2013....but it all depends on your stats. Sounds like you should wait until next year's cycle for 2015.

I'm a senior, applying this June and I took the MCAT in Sept of 2012. I don't think it matters when you take it as long as you have the scores by the time you apply!!

Last year an admissions counselor flat out told a girl in the same situation to apply the following year or take the MCAT by June. You can still get in by taking it in september, but you are hurting yourself if you do it this way.
