Hey guys.

So I am currently a junior in college and would like to take my MCAT January 2018. I haven't started yet and have finished most of my pre-reqs except Biochem and Psychology. I plan on using the Kaplan self-paced class as well Khan Academy for Psych/Soc with TPR and Examkrackers for additional resources. MY schedule is as follows. It isn't detailed but it's the general idea of what I plan to do.

July - Mid-August - 8 hours/day-5 days/week
MCAT Diagnostic Exam- to see where I am at- weakness, etc
Content Review through Khan Academy and Kaplan
TPR Gen Chem and Ochem Book
Finish Units 1-3 of Kaplan course
Khan Academy Psych and Soc Videos
Practice questions and Section Tests
3 CARS passages/ day- timed
Should be finished with all content by this point
2 full lengths divided into sections (FL) - July
3 FL-August

Beg of September - November—Taking Molecular Biology( really hard class at my school) and Biochemistry
10 hours per week dedicated to MCAT studying
Tons of practice problems and section tests
Daily CARS Passages
Reviewing what questions I get wrong and going over its related content and why my answer was wrong
Try to do a Full Length Biweekly
3 FL- September
2 FL-October
1 FL-November

December- Test Date- Winter Break
Daily CARS Passages
10 hours/ day- studying
1-2 Full Lengths/week
5 FL- December
6 FL-January
Do you guys think that I will be able to achieve a 510+ with the above schedule. A lot of people have said you're supposed to study 3 months straight right before your test date... I'm really worried and would appreciate any advice!!!

Hey! This looks good. You might burn out though. I studied 6 hours a day for a month doing content review and then continued content review 4ish days a week for 2-3 hours for 4 months. I took about bi weekly practice tests. I used TPR and got 520+. Good goal but you can probably tone it down if you're doing well on practice tests and feeling burnt out!

Could I ask what your baseline score was? And what did you do the month before your test?

I got a 524 if that's what you're asking. I felt a little burned out right before the test but I mostly reviewed all my physics equations written on one sheet and biochem metabolism cuz that was hardest for me. And I reviewed notes I made myself explaining the concepts and answer choices from the aamc section bank and q pack that I had felt uncomfortable/unfamiliar with. I took my last practice test about a week before I believe.

LOL I meant your very first practice test score. I feel like you had a strong science background so it came naturally to you.

Oh lol I think 504 on Princeton Review or something like that. Thanks! I actually had taken very little biology and I self studied all the psych/soc. And no room for English courses. So my chemistry was good really lol (I haven't taken intro physics in three years haha) Anything is possible just give yourself time to study!

Seems pretty reasonable. Also very smart of you to take molecular bio and biochem the semester before. Obviously the test material for these classes will be a lot harder than anything you see on the MCAT, but IMO they are the two m post important classes for MCAT prep and it's good they will be fresh in your mind come January.

Beware of burn out. I also had an 8 hour a day plan but it's hard to stick to that religiously. I loved TPR for gen chem and o chem, super applicable to the real thing!

Good luck man.
