Have 3.4 gpa 3.3sgpa, published research, getting MPH and will take one additional year off for application cycle. What MCAT score will I need to have reasonable chance for med school.
Really aim for a 30+ but make sure you do something significant in your time off. While an MPH is great - this doesn't make you different from the next applicant. Many applicants have a 30+ MCAT a 3.5+ gpa and a masters degree. Attempt to make yourself different from the crowd rather than trying to blend in.
For a number of MD schools, not even a 45 will save your app. MSAR Online is your friend. The median GPA for matriulants is 36. The median MCAT score is ~31.
Your number are fine for the bottom tier MD schools, new schools, and all DO schools.
