Hi all! I am a sophomore and plan on taking my MCAT January of Junior spring semester. I was not very good at the english and writing sections of the ACT as I scored low (23,24). However, I don't believe I studied much at all for the ACT, big mistake, and now I am fixing that for college. I know that standardized tests require you to have good analyzing and comprehension skills which I think is a weakness for me. I do not want to mess up on the MCAT for this reason.

Any tips for how to read passages, analyze, comprehend and choose the best answer? A program, book on these skills OR will practicing MCAT exams when the time comes be sufficient? Thanks

Read, read, read...and then read some more! You should have begun reading a long time ago to help acquire good analyzing and comprehension skills.

Reading things such as cell.com, Atlantic, NEJM, The New Yorker, The Wilson Quarterly will help with your reading comprehension.

There are also many suggestions in the MCAT forum to help improve reading skills.

Read a lot of diverse things.
