Hi guys,

So far I have two interview invitations for this cycle, and I still have 13 schools left that I haven't heard from. My MCAT is <30, but sGPA is >3.6. My interviews are both in January with one being my state college.

I'm not sure if this is just being pessimistic, but should is it worth re-studying for the MCAT over break in case this cycle doesn't go well? I'm just thinking that if I get rejected from both schools (and any other interviews I may get), I wouldn't have enough time to study again before the next cycle.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Well, judging from your previous comments about the mcat, I'd imagine you wouldn't need that long to re-study since the questions weren't hard 😎 If I were you, I'd wait til the beginning of February (assuming you don't hear from more schools in the meantime), then I'd re-study for around 2 months and take the mcat again some time in march or april, even May if you have to. The thing is, you want to focus 100% of your time on the mcat and it will be hard to do if you still have a possible chance of being accepted this cycle.

I still don't get why people are still misunderstanding what I said. There's a difference between knowing a subject and getting a question wrong because it's convoluted, and just not knowing a subject and getting a question wrong despite it being straight forward.

Thanks for the advice though, it makes sense.

MCAT questions are only convoluted if you don't know the material well. If you have a good grasp of the material, you can sift through the bs in the question and easily identify the concept being tested.

But yes, I would also wait to start restudying.

I had similar stats.. 29Q, 3.65 GPA. I had 3 interviews and got 2 acceptances yet! (but my interviews were Sept/Oct).

Just saying that there is hope lol. GL, but if I was in your shoes I would retake the MCAT. So that you can make sure you get in next cycle & can apply in June.

If you're rly serious about this you could do the princeton review's holiday hell. Otherwise I don't think winter break alone is sufficient time to study for the MCAT, but that's just me.
