Hi guys,

This is my first ever post! Has anyone postponed their (first sitting of the) MCAT from late summer to February after feeling they're not ready? If so, did it work out? I am going to be swamped with studying + ECs during the semester but I like to think I'll be able to put in a few hours per week. I'll also have the entire month of January off to study.

I'm a bit worried because a) I feel like I'll have wasted my summer and b) what if I forget everything (I've already forgotten things I studied in June).

ANY and all thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you 🙂

If you won't have time during the semester, than the extra months won't matter. Yet, since you say you wasted your summer, you shouldn't take the MCAT now either. It sounds like you should take the MCAT next summer and fully prepare for it.

Since the MCAT covers so much material you have to figure out a happy medium where you can cover the material but not start forgetting it all like you mentioned.

Early next summer might be your best bet. But if you can make a serious effort to finish content review during the semester you could use January for practice tests.

Keep in mind that you can't reschedule a 2009 test to 2010. Your best bet financially would be to cancel your sitting to get half of your money back, and then separately register for 2010.
