I know many of you have taken the Princeton Review and Kaplan full length MCAT practice exams. Is it just me, or do you also feel that the Kaplan exams are not like the AAMC released MCAT tests (much harder and more confusing) but the Princeton Review exams are closer to the actual AAMC tests? 😕

I read previous threads that discussed our practice MCAT scores versus our real scores and which review course you thought was better. But which practice exams (Princeton Review or Kaplan) did you feel are closer to the real MCAT?

Personally, my practice scores for

TPR: 29-31
Kaplan: 23-26
AAMC: 30-35

If those AAMC are the later AAMC, they are better indicators. If you are taking like... AAMC 3 and such, those are cake. But that's interesting-- because my AAMC and my TPR diagnostics are all the same range. TPR I believe requires more outside knowledge, whereas AAMC focuses more on reading comprehension and extrapolation from the passage. Perhaps you're just better at the latter than the former?

I've been having a similar problem. I take my mcat tomorrow and my scores have varied widely. Up in the 30s with the AAMC practices and 19-27 with Kaplan...

Although I've heard the AAMC are much more realistic and Kaplan makes theirs intentionally difficult. I'm hoping that Kaplan ones have just been hard.

haha i had exactly the opposite trend
Kaplan I averaged a 40 while averaging a 37.5 with AAMC
to each his own I guess but safe to say kaplan ain't too accurate 🙂

My Kaplan tests - I only took one or two before becoming v. frustrated! - were all 33 and down. I took all AAMC tests with scores of 35-38, and got a 37 on the actual MCAT. They seemed very predictive. I would focus on AAMC tests for sure!!!

Good luck 🙂
