Hey All

Are there any NON trad DO people out there who took the pre req classes a few years ago
and had to study for the MCATS having forgot lots of the pre req material and manage a full-time job as well. If so how did you go about doing it? Where did you start ? How did you study?

If any one can give me a few pointers i would appreciate it

As a non-trad who has been out of school for quite some time, I basically had to change my lifestyle prior to taking the MCAT. This included changing my diet, exercise, study habit, sleep time, etc.

What really helped me was taking the AAMC full-length exams under the most realistic conditions I could possibly simulate. I got up at the same time, ate the same food, started and ended the practice exam at exactly the same time.

As far as the prep book goes, The Berkeley Review books are helpful if you take the time to follow through.

Best of luck to you.

I re-took the MCAT about 20 years after college. I used the Kaplan online course and review books. I started in September, and took the test in April. I studied 2-3 hrs a night, and took practice tests on the weekends. Finished subject review by January, and after that focused on doing practice questions and full-length exams. I did all AAMC exams and all Kaplan FL except for #11. Over 3000 practice questions all together, and 10 essays. Reviewed all the Kaplan flashcards.

Get regular exercise throughout your studies. I even did jumping jacks during the breaks between the sections. It helps your brain to increase blood circulation. As LUCPM said, take the practice FL exams at the same time of day you plan to take the real one. Follow the exact same routine you will folow on exam day.

I took the MCAT 7-10 years after taking pre-reqs and just used EK books for my study needs.
