If I took the MCAT on June 3rd, my scores will be released in July 20th. Is that too late? If I took the class in July, the scores are released in August. Would be an even worse idea?

Also, is it better to take a class that I will finish by May instead of a class I will finish by the end of June? Does the month long difference in the transcript release make a difference?

Keep in mind that if you submit in early June, it takes a few days to have your transcripts verified. By the end of June, it can take a few weeks. By August it can take a month or more. So it's better to take the class that is done in May, if you need to submit the grade to improve your application GPA. Otherwise, just list it as a future course.

I thought it usually took about a month for an MCAT score release. Have they changed it to six weeks? Anyway, a July release date wouldn't be a huge issue if you've already submitted to AMCAS earler and completed the verification process. Then, when the MCAT score is released, your entire application gets to all schools within 24 hours. If you are not confident of your MCAT score, you can initially apply to only one school and add others later if your score is competitive. Newly added schools also get the entire file within a (business) day.

The August release date would not be one's first choice considering your chances of getting an interview decrease as more time passes. But if you had no choice, assuming preverification as above, and prewitten Secondary essays (from prompts here on SDN), you could get all your Secondaries completed and returned within a few dates of receiving them and still get a reasonable degree of consideration.

Getting your scores in July is fine. Application completion by August is generally considered early enough to qualify for the first wave of interviews at most (not all schools).

The only problem is if your score is not to your liking or some unexpected event happens (car accident, illness, death in the family, etc.) that prevents you from taking the MCAT. Then scrambling to register for the next MCAT can delay your scores enough to impact your application. I always vote for a April or May MCAT because it allows you the leeway for those eventualities.

You have the dates confused, there is no June 3rd testing date. There is a June 17th testing date in which the regular registration for this closes on June 3rd. If you were willing to take it on the 3rd the closest date to this is the 27th of May and will have your scores back by late June
