MCAT scores are generally valid for 3 years. When checking if an MCAT score is still valid, which date is the MCAT score date compared to? The day the application opens? The day that I submit my application? The date of matriculation?

If I take the MCAT in May 2012, will my scores still be valid if I apply during 2015's application cycle, considering that the score would technically be just over 3 years old? What if I took it in June instead?

Thanks for your help guys.

My understanding is that it doesn't matter what month the test was taken in as long as it's within the 3-year time frame. So if you take the MCAT anytime in 2012, it will be valid until 2015.

It depends on the school you are applying to. Some accept it as long as it was taken within 3 years of the cycle you are applying, some want it to be no more than 3 years old at matriculation, some have different expiration time frames. One school I talked to told me my 2008 MCAT wasn't good for the 2011 cycle, one told me it was. Completely school specific. You will have to check with each school you are interested in (unless there is a central source that has this information)

Yep. My MCAT expired in between my application and my acceptance. 😎 But I asked over a year ago if this was OK.

It's different for every school, check the MSAR. I applied this cycle with my Sept. 2008 MCAT and wasn't able to apply to many schools because it expired for them.
