Hi everyone - My roommate took the MCAT in August 2000, and is applying now (for 2004). She got an email from Georgetown saying that her scores were too old and that MCAT scores were valid for 3 years between time of taking them and time of ENROLLING, not applying. Is that true for many schools? I'd always thought the 3 years meant for "applying". Thanks!

if you took the test in 2001, latest normal date is entering class 2004, or three years. Someone applying entering 2005 with a 2000 test is using a test five years old. (most schools have a 3 year expiration, some have four or five year expiration)

Ok...so if I took the mcat the Aug. after my soph. year I would still have two cycles of applying w/ those scores, correct? Or is my math off as usual? 🙂 take it in 2004...graduate in 2006...if i got in the first time would be entering in 2006 an if i got in second time around would be entering in 2007....

however, i'm taking it on aug. 14th, 2004...so hmm...

I think you would have three cycles to apply.

My proof
I took the April, 2001 and the August 2001 MCAT.

1. I applied 1st cycle (would have started med school 2002)
2. Didn't apply the 2nd cycle (would have started med school 2003)
3. Applied this (3rd) cycle, got accepted and will start med school in 2004

So by my own actual experience I could have applied with my scores 3 application cycles.
