I did horrible on my MCAT. Do schools look that badly upon retaking? I'm talking very low 20s here. Kaplan practice tests gave me indication that I would score in high 20s so I decided to take in April. If I retake in August do I still stand a chance???
I applied to MSU, UofM and NYU.
Physiology major 3.81 GPA.

I'd retake. I don't think places look down on it but you most likely will get asked what you did to bring your score up. Many places only look at the most recent scores anyway.

Good luck.

Are those all the schools you applied to? You really need to apply to more schools if you are lacking in one way or another. I would say apply to 20 schools. I am not kidding. Also, I think you should take it again ( if you think that you will significantly improve..more than 2 points) but beware that it will cause a delay in the processing of your application by the schools. Schools will not look down upon you retaking the test. Just tell them that you were nervous or that you were sick or that you did not get a chance to study b/c of a full course load. Go with the sick excuse.

I would only retake in August if I were sure that my score would drastically improve (i.e. >6 points). Were your three scores even across the board or was it one or two sections that really pulled the overall score down?

it was phys. sci 9, verbal 6, bio sci 6 and writing Q. awful stuff...i definitely wasnt prepared enough

should i retake if i have an 8 in verbal and 12 and 13 in sciences. i know i can get 12's in the sciences but is it worth the trouble to study all over. i ask this because im a california resident. thanks

Retake if you're confident to score at least 10 on each section.

NYU in particular isn't even going to look at your application if you score below 10.

Are you a minority?

You will most likely get interviews at all of the CA schools. After that, it's up to you and your personality.

You have to retake; don't even bother applying with those scores. Waste of money. That might get you into the Caribbean, but I'm not sure.
