So, could someone tell me which books are the most recommended for the mcat prep? Do I have to buy the materials that aamc peddles on their website? And are they useful? ty

You don't *have* to buy them, but I would recommend them as they are the only sets of questions that you can be sure are representative of the actual MCAT.
Personally, I was fine with buying only Gold Standard + AAMC II/III. Also borrowed many prep books from the library.
