I am wondering if others have dealt with this.

I had the scores sent to AACOMAS on June 15th, submitted my app two weeks ago, and have been waiting for them to finish cerifying things and send it out to schools.

After a week of no action (my AMCAS was done in 5 days) I checked the status, and saw the message that my MCAT scores had not been received. I called immediately and was reassured that it was normal for MCAT scores to not show up right away, something about them downloading delivered scores infrequently.

A week later, I checked again and see no change. I called the office and the woman told me that they HAD been received back in June, but that the social security number didn't match so they could officially link them to my app! She told me I need to go to AAMC and have them change the SSN and have them re-delivered before I can proceed.

I took the CBT MCAT last April. I went to MCAT THx, and my MCAT score report shows a social security number "999-99-9999." I call to ask WTF, and they tell me that I didn't enter a SSN when I registered, so I was assigned this number instead.

I doubt I would have missed this piece of information when registering, but even if I did, what the heck are they doing letting people register for the test without a social security number?! Furthermore, why haven't they contacted me about it or otherwise made the cautionary statement that not having a proper SSN attached to your score report MAKES THEM USELESS TO AACOMAS????!!!

If that's not all enough, the woman at the MCAT office told me there is no way to have my SSN changed over the phone, that I have to make an official request by FAX or MAIL and that it can take "about two weeks."

GRRRRRRRRRRR 👎 👎 👎 👎 😡 :meanie:

So here I sit, transcripts verified, app ready to go, and I get f*d in the A over this ridiculous flaw in the MCAT system.

Anyone else wondering why their app hasn't been sent yet--check your MCAT score report.

Sincerely (in frustration and haste),

Jake

Sounds like a nasty error or computer gremlin somewhere. Sorry to hear 'bout it. But seriously - chill. It's still early early early. I haven't heard yet from more than half of the schools I applied to, and my app was ready to go on June 16 for AMCAS and the June 12 for AACOMAS.

After you send the fax to fix what the gremlin ate, take a deep breath, drink a cold beer, and repeat after me... "it will be allright... It will be allright..."

Maybe someone can clarify. When you take the mcat how do you release your scores to aacomas? Is it done the day of the test, online, after you get your scores?

When you check your scores on AAMC there are options at the bottom of the score page to release them to other organizations - such as DO (AACOMAS) and PA school (two that I did).

👍

Thank you very much, i was always wondering how one went about doing that.

Maybe that's what happening with me. I'm Canadian, so I don't have an SSN, but I have an SIN which I did not enter on the AACOMAS application since there was no space to put it (unlike AMCAS, which has an option for SIN). I know my MCAT scores are released to AACOMAS, and I submitted AACOMAS on 6/27. Have any other Canadians had this problem? Should I also call AACOMAS to clarify?

so how long has it been taking for AACOMAS to process these days...i submitted on last thrusday....the website says 4-6, but i've been hearing that its taking like a week...is this still true? or has it been taking longer lately.

I figured out a way around this little mess. I discovered that I could forward my scores to AACOMAS from the MCATTHX page using the biographical information from my previous MCAT, which had my correct SSN attached to it.

To the Canadian who posted earlier: I would call AACOMAS and ask them what's going on, otherwise you may be sitting in limbo for no good reason for awhile.
