MCAT twice...worse the second time

MCATs can sometimes be random (it seems) in scoring. I knew a guy who got a 39 on the April exam but thought that since he was so close to 40 he should retake it again in August. He received a 28 the second time around and hasn't received an interview yet.

lies........all lies. no one drops 11 points. did he/she develop a crack habit between MCATs?

I took the MCAT 3 times: 27, 26, 27. I had a 3.35 science GPA and received 7 interviews (all allopathic), and 2 acceptances! It's the "whole package" that matters as well as applying early.

Good Luck!

Come on...give hope to the other end of the stick. Going from 39 to 28 is about as realistic as going from 28 to a 39, right?

Or is that just wishful thinking?

Okay, so yes, that was just silly.

Still, I think it's entirely possible for a person to jump around on the MCAT -- perhaps the second time around s/he freaked out a bit, or got a test that seemed to highlight every one of his/her weaknesses...or, maybe s/he switched brains with someone else... 😛

In any event, people who retake the MCAT with a 39 do not deserve an OUNCE of sympathy. *******.
