MCAT verbal type of passages

I know everyone keeps saying ek 101 is the best prep book, but are the passage topics and difficulty anywhere similar to the actual thing? They keep repeating the same ,relatively easy, subjects over and over again(like psychology theories, homosexualitiy, politics, japanese gov't etc). I got .85(high 10) on the last two sections I took, but when I tried a couple of kaplan VR subject tests, they had long abstract philosophy and "book reviews" passages, and got destroyed(~7). Which is more accurate in terms of level of passage difficulty?

EK101 is significantly more comparable to the actual AAMC exam than Kaplan. However, I have yet to find passages from any company that are on par with the difficulty and length of the actual AAMC exam.

I hear that PR's verbal workbooks is also good but still...
