I have taken the DAT and registration and scheduling was pretty easy for that. I would still like to take the MCAT's and have registered online. When I log on, it just says that August 2006 registration is closed. I kind of figured so since it is now October. It looks like registration opens Nov. 15 for the Jan. 27 and 29th test dates. So at midnight on Nov. 15 will everyone cram the internet trying to get on those dates? So basically I'm looking for info on how the procedure goes for those that have gone through it. Thanks!😳

Well since this is the first time it will be like this since they switched to the multiple tests per year I seriously doubt that anyone will be able to offer advice on how the registration goes. From what I understand after calling and talking to the MCAT people they are not really sure how it will all work out. I talked to them last week.

No one has really gone through it yet. Best way is find a local Kaplan Center (or Princeton Review) or career center with pre-health advisor. I would assume that not a lot are rushing to take the MCAT in Jan. Majority of those taking mcat are MD applicants, which I think application starts in June/July. So most will probably still take it later in the spring. You should be fine, but there are few computer labs for the mcat as of right now (so i was told)

I'd still call Kaplan or heath advidor.

Good Luck!

I know that when I took it in April, there were people still signing up for it in the middle of March. Only a few people were unable to get there preferred testing sites. I live in the Chicago area. I had friends take the test down town at the big schools where as, I took it at NIU. There were fewer test takers at NIU, so even though the testing started at the same time, we were finished 2 and 1/2 hours before friends who took it at Northwestern. They had to wait for everyone in an enormous lecture hall, but the 50 or so of us at Northern were split into two smaller classrooms. The funny thing was that Northwestern was one of the sites that people wanted, but couldn't get into.

Are they only offering computer based testing now? I was unaware of the changes that they were making. I would think that the computer based version would be more difficult...can you go back or is it like the USMLE, where once you have answered, there is no going back?

how in the world do you send these scores? i released them to the aacpmas via the mcat website, but I couldn't select individual schools. what is the deal?

Call the schools you are interested in and ask the admissions staff.
