I’m a US trained family medicine physician out of residency 5 years so far. I took the MCCEE years ago and passed first time through with Canada qbank. I’m immigrating to Canada and will be taking the mccqe1 this November. I have started using Canada qbank but I’m wondering if it’s the best source for this exam. Is UWorld the better option ??

Thanks-

The bigger question is do you need to take the exam.

Many Canadian provinces, although not all, now have waivers for the MCCQE1 and MCCQE2 if you have completed USMLE Step 1 -3. This allows you to be licensed without taking the QE exams.

For example in Ontario, the college of physicians and surgeons in Ontario has the below list of alternate exams:

I have the same question. I'm applying for residency in the US this year but I also want to keep the doors open to Canada after my training. Would you guys suggest me to take the MCCs or are the USMLEs enough?

Take the MCC exams if you wish to be able to return to Canada in any province with minimal licensing hassles. In the link I provided above, Ontario requires you practice under supervision if you took only the USMLE instead.

Take MCCQE1 and MCCQE2.

Then complete your royal college board exam and you can get licensed anywhere in Canada if you so choose, which is what I plan on doing.

sorry to hjack thread. canadian citizen, Third year med student in US. Interested in Internal Medicine. Is it worth it to take these exams and apply to IM in Canada? Id only apply IM at Mcmaster with no audition rotation (too expensive for 1 month, 1200$ and lottery for a 4th year elective)
