It’s been a while since I took step 1 so I can’t really help her aside from providing moral support

She currently has a tutor and took a year off for step 1 and still not getting a passing grade on her practice exams. Does anyone have any advice for her ?

Change the study materials or change the tutor, after a year off she should be seeing some progress.
Is she eating & sleeping well, exercising?

She just had 20 hours with the tutor. From talking with her she feels like she’s exhausted the materials. Shes eating, sleeping and exercising but not like she used to.

When I’ve done questions with her it seems like the content doesn’t stick , and it might be more of a knowledge deficit

What does the school's learning specialist say?
How many times has she taken the test? If it's her last try, there could also be an anxiety component.

Who assigned the tutor: the school or is this a private tutor? I agree with the above: you should see progress after 1 year... or should see progress after 2 months. Did this person have similar challenges preparing for the MCAT?

If she isn’t using Anki that would make a dent.

If she does Pathoma, Sketchy Micro, and Sketchy pharm, and she does the Anki cards, that’ll probably be enough to pass. And she should be doing Anki cards based off her UWorld Incorrects.

Also, just let her know you support her and you’ll be with her no matter what. Even if it’s not true…..lie. My wife was talking about divorcing me during dedicate for step 1. That sucked bro

If it seems like a knowledge deficit, incorporating flashcards could be an important missing piece. is she using Anki, if so, how? Also agree that it’s worthwhile to question the efficacy of the tutor at this point. If it’s a group, switching tutors should be an option. Curious if the tutor has offered an explanation for the plateau/has a plan?
