MCG info anyone?

I called them today and said they were sending the letters today. I asked her if it was "good or bad" and she said she couldn't say over the phone, and to expect it in the mail soon.

oooh, this makes my stomach turn.

i'm waitlisted at Louisville, and I wanna go to MCG SO freakin' badly.

Last year, I was rejected on the 7th via e-mail... so its interesting that they've sent letters out today.
 
I interviewed early last year, got rejected, spent the summer doing dental missionary work, reapplied early and got totally blow off by MCG this year. No interview... nothing!!! As much as I'd love to be in the fall '07 class, MCG still sucks! Congrats to all you who get excepted. DAT x2 here i come!
 
i'm waiting and waiting and i have no idea what to expect. this is my second go-round and i wonder what i'll do if mcg drop kicks me like they did last year. any ideas?

Honestly, I have no clue what they are looking for in a candidate. I do know for a fact it has gotten to be an incredibly politically based school since they are trying to secure $80 million bucks from the state to build their new dental facility. The only positive is that they will increase the number of students to a whopping 70!

Personally, if mommy and daddy do not have some deep pockets to give to the school, I think you can mark this school off of your list.

According to the rejection letter, they interviewed almost 160 folks!

I have to agree with DentalDawg, MCG sux! I feel for you dude since you actually did some dental missionary work....they should have given you an interview based on that alone. In my case, the admissions staff has told me different things to do based on what day I visit or talk to them!

Nonetheless, I wish the absolute best of luck to all of you guys (and gals) still waiting to hear MCG's decision! Do not let my "venting" bring you down 🙂

I haven't heard anything yet either. I interviewed early Nov. I still have like 4 interviews to go on.
 
Nothing here either. If they have already sent out rejections via email is this a good thing? I just hope I don't get waitlisted. I'm expecting something Monday.

i don't think they've sent out any e-mails about anything yet. last year it took about a week for any one to get anything from them so who knows when it'll all happen this year. good luck to everyone.
 
According to the predental advisor at Georgia, the MCG class is effectively filled by the end of September. I'm assuming, they're just looking to fill those spots that become available thereafter.
 
That's funny because that's when interviews really get going, that is bad information. Why would they continue to interview through the middle of November if the class was filled by the end of September?

Sheesh...as a Georgia-native college freshman, this is disheartening. Why is the school so hard to get into? Is it really all about politics, or have they raised their standards or something over the past few years? Sucks that our own state school seems to carry the slimmest chances of acceptance.

Are you talking about the pre-dental advisor at UGA? where did she get that info? it doesn't make any sense cuz that would mean that pretty much everyone that interviewed in september would get in and that is totally not a fact. i interviewed w/ the very first group last year and didn't get accepted, so i don't think when you interview dictates getting accepted.

Yep, that came from the horse's mouth. ....at UGA. Sounded awkward, but that's UGA's predental advisor's words. Made me rush to get my application in. Albeit wayy too late.

What tha hell's up with a Oct 15 deadline and having the class virtually filled by Sept?!?!? ******ed school.

I'm gonna try for UAB, just because my in-state school is one of those ******ed schools who prematurely accept the first kids they see. It's like a kid seeing candy for the first time... they get greedy and take too many, regardless of quality.

I shoulda applied to UF also. Another state school in the surrounding vicinity.

I was told at my interview that it's different this year. That's how it ended up last year, and the school didn't want that, so this year they are waiting until after all the interviews before selecting the class.

That's just what I was told, guess there's not much that can be done to find out the actual situation.

I was told by the Dean of Admissions that ALL interview slots have pretty much been determined by the beginning of September. The biggest diffference between this year and years past is that they began rejecting applicants much earlier.

They only have two interview invites per week starting after labor day. They are complete with interviews by mid-November. And, this year is the most people they have EVER interviewed....159 to be exact. Augusta is a pretty slow town...they would have to start accepting people early on or they would never get it done 🙂

Hopefully, you folks still waiting to hear from MCG will get some positive news in the mail on Monday. Best of luck to you.
 
Yeah - I heard they were doing it different this year too - As far as waiting until everyone is interviewed and then meeting about acceptances. Guess we will see.

Hrmmm. Waiting until they've interviewed all students (120-150/270) until they decide which to accept. Sounds vaguely .....smart.

That's MCG for you. Makes you wonder what tha hell they've been doing before, filling the 62 spots in the first month of interviews. ******ed. They should win a Nobel prize for their recent decision to interview everyone first.
 
Has anyone received rejection letters or waitlist letters yet? This is puzzling because last year I got a rejection via e-mail in mid-November. Maybe tomorrow it will happen?
 
I am still waiting....no news yet. Did they really mail out letters on friday? Did anybody else interview the first week in November? When are we supposed to hear info?
 
nothing today. my mail usually comes about 230 but the box was completely empty. i find it hard to believe there wasn't at least something--- i guess i can hope that it hasn't come yet.

Nope, no MCG letter. a nice one from Meharry saying that I was declined though...
 
Yeah Matarsha told me Friday that they were mailing them out. From what I gathered in a quick converstion they were mailing them Friday and to expect it soon. I interviewed Nov. 6.

I think Meharry got it backward when it comes to the application process. They reject qualified applicants and accept mediocre ones.👎

its possible that "mailing them friday" meant we'll drop 'em off as we leave for the day, so they didn't get very far... maybe tomorrow 😀

oh, thanks. i never expected to get into Meharry though, as I'm not a minority.
 
I just graduated from MCG, so I definitely feel for you guys. You'll pretty much know when you get the letter because if things are the same since 2001, it will be certified.

You will receive an outstanding clinical education at MCG. Good luck to all of you.
 
I got nothing either, and a non-SDN friend also got nothing. I guess we're all safe for another day 🙂

Last year, I also got my rejection via email on Dec. 7.

nope, nothing in the mail today either. Has anyone received rejection letters in the mail? I received mine last year via e-mail Nov. 14.
 
I'm just wondering if anyone has received any rejections via e-mail in the past week - like since Dec. 1st -

no mail again.

i just about crapped myself though because the mailman stopped and headed up the driveway, but he was only carrying a Christmas gift i had ordered online. i just ordered yesterday so i certainly wasn't expecting it to arrive today!

tomorrow is another day i guess.
 
So I called again yesterday after no mail and Matarsha told me they were sending them out yesterday or today... hmm. So maybe this week? All I know is that it is driving me insane. And I guess don't get your hopes up because first they said it was mailed out Friday...

are you talking about the "2006/7 Acceptances Thread"? no one has indicated MCG there, so I wasn't sure.
