McGill in Montreal, Canada. Does anyone know anything about this school's reputation and its admissions selectivity?

I have a personal beef against this school. But anyways, it's not better nor worse than Ontario medical schools. According to the MSAR "of this total (150 new entrants), 16 were U.S. citizens and 7 were citizens of foreign countries." I'm guessing you're an American, right?

Canada has only 16 medical schools, compared to the 126 + 20 U.S. medical schools. Add to the fact that Canada has been having a problem on doctor shortages, you can take a guess about its selectivity.

Yeah, a lot of canadians have beef about McGill because it is much much easier to get in as an American than as an out-of-province Canadian. But the fact is that McGill has the best international reputation out of all Canadian university/med school, and some Canadians also resent that because they believe that U of Toronto and Queen's are better. That I can never understand because coming from the west coast of Canada, we westerners consider them to be equal. But Ontario people always say that U of T is the best, period. To me, I would personally go to McGill because it is in a much cooler city and more vibrant. People also do not use McGill as a "commuter" school like they do with U of T.

Um, to the layperson, probably. To people in a relevant field? Unlikely.

Um again, because that hasn't been my experience, living and going to school in Ontario.

I'm finding that most people tend to live right near school, actually.

To many docs and researchers (not layperson), they have heard more of McGill than U of Toronto.

I do not meant people living right near school. For undergrads, many who go to U of T are from Toronto and therefore live at home (same case as UBC). However, for McGill, since it is a anglophone school in a francophone province, a much higher percentage of students are out-of-province and thereby travel to Montreal to study. It has more of a campus atmosphere, as opposed to an extension-of-highschool and hanging out with the same crowds as before.
