Yes I have posted about this before lmao but pls lmk if you have any advice for ranking/pros and cons, how you ranked and why, and if you are a current student your faves and hates!
I feel like both are very similar schools. Basically same match, step, strength of clinicals (TMC obvs lil better), everyone likes their classmates, mostly graded. Feel like its basically SA vs HTX
Honestly, whichever school will be more fun/chill, supportive, less stressful, good for type B, medicine in a box but still good overall is what I'm looking for. I think this gives McGovern a slight edge. but idk!
McGovern:
Pros:
clinical SLIGHT edge
Ppl seem chiller than at Long and v normal
More pro sports (possible sports med? shaky pro)
"Bigger city feel"
NBME mods exams
PF first sem!!!
Ppl ik have said staff is legit sooo helpful and they have a lot of free time, very relaxed and overall good vibes
Cons:
parking
hurricanes
Houston (I've talked so much crap about it but its honestly not that bad)
Long
Pros:
Everyone seems like they want students to succeed. Best interview day by far (MG tour was better tho)
Higher avg stats ( i know i know don't flame me if i could turn off my ego I would!!)
cuter campus
cheaper col and less traffic
more third party stuff free from school
everyone seems chill and happy (after 1st sem). wondering if it's because they're all super hard workers and type a tho
Cons:
Graded all the way (1st sem i heard is baddd plus transition difficulty)
in house exams
Anatomy split into 2 sections- torso 1st sem ms1 and limbs 2nd sem ms2. no thanks i wanna be done
An hour or so further from home
Overall, they seem pretty similar after first semester. McGovern seems a bit more relaxed and chill in general, which is more my vibe. However, students at Long seem content too. McGovern def has a huge edge for 1st sem, but I don't wan to base my 4 year decision off of 5 months!
HELP!!
