When did you send out your application/How long did you wait until you heard back?

I sent in my application on 11/02/14 and was contacted for my interview at the end of November. My interview was on 12/18, and I received an acceptance letter in the beginning of January. It took a little longer than average because of the holiday, but I was told that they try to have them sent in about a week.

I applied as well, but unfortunately I am on the waitlist.

To the people that accepted the offers, did you apply to other schools in Massachusetts? And if so what was your reasoning in choosing this program over others?

I got an offer but am hesitant to accept it. Due to the lack of reputation and very high tuition I am considering just waiting to apply to more schools again next cycle. I made the mistake of only applying to UMass Lowell and after being wait-listed for months and not getting in this was the only program still accepting applicants so I reluctantly applied mostly just to save my stats in PTCAS to potentially use them for the next cycle. I have good stats, heaps of work experience in multiple settings, solid references, did great on the GRE, and feel like I really screwed myself over by putting all of my eggs in one basket initially. Any thoughts?

I did not apply to any other MASS programs but I did research some of the other programs and what I liked about MCPHS over the others:
1) Their Pro-bono clinic is great. You are starting in the clinic the third week of your education so you are getting hands on with patients at a very early point in your education.
2) All of their classrooms, laboratories, and equipment is state of the art. When I interviewed and was given the tour I was very impressed with all of technology at your disposal.
3) Its a huge research based program. They have wonderful opportunities to create/participate in various studies and also have you do a Capstone.
4) Even though their program is expensive, its not that much more than the other Mass schools (Education on the east coast is pricey as it is)

Also on a side note:
I was able to meet several different faculty and students and got to talk to each respectively, one-on-one. They all were very knowledgeable and personable. I was impressed with the student-professor interactions.

Thats what brought my interest there and ultimately led to me choosing that program over the several others I interviewed/were accepted at.

Hope that answers your question!

Pretty much everything that Duhawk said. I initially applied to MCPHS based on their average accepted stats, but after interviewing and touring around a few other PT programs, I found that I liked MCPHS by far. I did not apply to any other programs in Mass since I originally had a preference to stay close to home (FL). While I did get accepted into school in Florida, I still chose to attend MCPHS because of how much I liked their program.

I absolutely loved the classroom atmosphere and the fact that they had on campus housing which is very close to the classes, the variety of brand new equipment available to us, the probono clinic (where they choose the more unique cases and offer free PT to those without insurance), early integrated clinical experiences.. Also, I felt much more "welcome" there than at any other place where I interviewed and had positive experiences with the admissions faculty. It is expensive, but I feel as though I will enjoy their program since it best suites my learning style.

I did not have the opportunity to interact with the students or professors (my interview was during Winter Break), but from searching around on sdn, I have found that many of the other grad students at the Worcester campus are happy with their experience. I can't wait to start.

I will be attending MCPHS as well this year! Can't wait to meet everyone and get started!

I agree with the two statements above, very impressed and pleased with the facilities and professors!

Does anyone have the link to the facebook group?

I have my interview next week and I am extremely excited/nervous. What makes me nervous is the 30 minute writing sample. Does anyone have any advise on this?

Don't be! They give you plenty of topics to choose from so you should be able to write about one easily. From what I could remember, most of the topics were based off of personal experiences.

Thank you for the advice! I have fallen in love with this school and I am hoping for the best. I've been studying articles from the APTA to be prepared on information currently occurring in the field. Any helpful advice would be greatly appreciated!

The writing sample isn't bad at all. As emespt said there is a large list of different topics to chose from and they are all personal experience (kinda). As far as the actual interview... just be yourself. Its not in your face at all and is very relaxed.

You'll do great!
