Hey all....I know this subject has been discussed a couple times before, but just wanted to get another couple opinions on MCP.

Basically I really liked the school and the students seemed to be very happy. I know that MCP's financial woes are behind them and that Drexel University is now committed to running the school for the next 20 years.

For some reason though, I'm still sorta worried about how the school is viewed nationally. At my interview they told us that the name is probably going to be changed to something along the lines of "Drexel University School of Medicine" but other than that everything else is the same. Looking at their match list for last year, it certainly seemed impressive, but I'm wondering if this may change given the overall changes taking place..

As I need to decide on this school soon, please know that I would really appreciate any opinions you may have..

go where you think you will be happy.

i can't even begin to count the number of people that have told me that it makes no difference which medical school you go to. if you rock the boards and do well during your 3rd year rotations you will get into the residency of your choice. what more could you ask for? i, for one, was very happy with my visit at mcphu and will most likely be there in the fall.

and for god's sake, if you decide not to go, try to make sure that cityivy gets your spot. as soon as a post hits regarding mcphu, you can bet your life that cityivy will be right there with a response.

The best med schools usually have an undergrad associated with them, so I think joining Drexel will most likely help MCPHU's rep. Likewise, having a med school associated with Drexel will boost Drexel's rep.
Also, I know a few professors from other med schools who share this opinion and feel both schools will benefit from the merger.

CityIvy --

Don't get me wrong - I think MCP is a great school, and I know I'll be happy there.

I just figured I'd throw this out as a gauge of how they are perceived nationally.

aldo: which other schools are you considering?

where can i find Drexel's match list?
