Hello everyone- Has anyone interview at MCV? I supposed to be there in a few weeks but don't know how to plan my flight schedule. I want to get back home ASAP once the interview is over.

Can you let me know what to expect during the interview day and what the time table is like when I go there? For ex., how long will the whole process last and who will I meet ? I don't like to deal with suprises that day since I want everything to work out so that I can fly back home without any troubles. Thank you!!!

Your status page should tell you when your interview is. If you have your interview in the morning, the day will wrap up around 2-ish and you'll easily be able to catch a flight out from RIC that night. Otherwise, plan for your interview to take an hour-or-so (depending on how long you think you can entertain your interviewer =), and that'll be sufficient. The day at VCU/MCV is pretty short, and I liked the school...
It seems like a lot of people (or maybe just a lot of out-of-staters) have been getting a slightly older cardiothoracic surgeon. He's pretty nice, but he'll ask you things about stem cell research, cloning, etc. Just to let you know!

Yeah, that guy is awesome! I had him too. I'm pretty sure he does about 1/3 of the interviews for VCU/MCV. Really nice, talkative gentleman, but just watch out for those health care issue questions. He rains them on you.

the interview at MCV goes really smoothly without any surprises, atleast that's how it was for me. mine was scheduled for 10am and lasted about an hour and a half. after that, there was a tour by med students and an info session with Dr. Heldberg, the dean of admissions. the whole thing lasts about 3-4 hours. in regard to the interview, the best way to prepare for it i found was reading up on the interview feedback site on sdn. if you're looking for a hotel, choose one close to campus, around downtown. remember that the MCV campus is several blocks away from the main VCU campus. just don't do what i did, i got a hotel room about 20 mins away from campus in the west side of richmond. if you're searching for a good deal, i found the best one using the orbitz flight and hotel combination search. i was able to get a roundtrip ticket from california and a two night hotel room for just under 4 bills. anyway, hope this helps. if you have other questions, please feel free to pm me. hope the interview goes well. good luck.

Hi does anyone know the name of this cardiothoraic surgeron. I am interviewing there soon as an out of stater and wanted a heads up.

Also any other tips about the interview would be great. Thanks

His name is Dr. Brooks. He is very nice and funny. He will ask you about Harry Potter, the Da Vinci Code, euthanasia, stem cell research, and selling organs.

PM me if you have more questions. Good Luck!

I got an invitation to interview today and it says that they are interviewing for the alternate list only at this time. What's the point?

I am thinking I'd rather live in D.C. than Milwaukee.
