Hi, They sent you that email to let you know your application is on hold for possible rejection, acceptance or waitlist. That is the sign telling you that they have finished reviewing your file. I do know firts hand how they handle it from here.
You are put on a list according to a score you have. All the member's gave you a score and then those scores were averaged. The lower score, the better your chances are. They never give out the score so don't ask them.
On the list there are lots of people with the same scores, so then they look at the score your interviewer gave to you, after that they look at the gpa and finally the MCAT.
