Anyone know when this week we are supposed to hear? I got my money on Tuesday.
Anyone else thinks otherwise or have insider info to share?

I am thinking, we will hear Thursday.

I have a question, does MCV/VCU send out rejections before the acceptances or do they send rejection and acceptance emails at the same time?
 
TraumaMD: that?s a good question. Im not sure if they have rejected anyone yet. Hmmm, I don?t even want to think about rejections yet. But, I think that they would hold on to all the people that they interviewed and only after they have their class full they would start sending out rejections.

As far as cali schools go? I hate them. They havent showed me any love yet. UCLA hasent even given me a secondary. Have you had any luck with them?

Monday night (1/28) around 7pm they started this round of notifications. Good luck to everybody!
 
So any of us SDNers get in this round? How do you know they sent them out already, glacierdropsy?

i just called the adm office. the lady said that they wont be sending any accept letters until end of Feb. that does not sound right.

Does anyone knwo the real story? I would tend to assume the phone call to them is the real answer, but I sure hope not. End of February, yuck. <img src="graemlins/pissy.gif" border="0" alt="[Pissy]" />
 
I got an email last night (Monday-1/28) telling me to check the web page. Maybe it was because I was put on hold that I was notified. But still, I'm surprised that no one else got a notification.
 
Hi, They sent you that email to let you know your application is on hold for possible rejection, acceptance or waitlist. That is the sign telling you that they have finished reviewing your file. I do know firts hand how they handle it from here.
You are put on a list according to a score you have. All the member's gave you a score and then those scores were averaged. The lower score, the better your chances are. They never give out the score so don't ask them.

On the list there are lots of people with the same scores, so then they look at the score your interviewer gave to you, after that they look at the gpa and finally the MCAT.

This information is for anyone who wondered how you get ranked at MCV and what happens after you are ranked. 😛
 
Yeah, I thought it sounded like a waitlist kind of thing. Very, very discouraged.

Sorry if I got everyone excited about notifications. I just assumed that when I was notified, everyone else would be too.
 
Don't be discouraged. Everyone gets that notification after their file as been reviewed. They don't have rolling admissions, everyone is placed on hold after their file is done.

They only send out their notifications a few times during the application process. You want that hold status, cause that means your file is done, ready and waiting to go. Here's hoping we all hear that we will be going to school together. amy: thanx for the great info. but i have one question. you said that when your score comes up they then look at ur gpa and mcat scores AND THEN they decide if they should give you an acceptance. Now, I thought that one you get a rank/score your mcat and gpa are already taken into account.

glacierdropsy: good luck! when did you interview, are u an instate or outstater?
 
In a way yes, they have looked at your scores to determine your ranking, but they also use all the things from your application combined to give you the ranking. I guess it does seem like they are using it twice.
 
I got an update from them tonite to fill out their survey; thing is I got an update yesterday nite to fill out the survey and I already submitted it. Tonite when I went to the "My App", there wasn't even a link for the survey. I don't know what's going on...

CU: Thanks and good luck to you!! I interviewed Dec 5 and I am instate (which makes being put on hold kinda discouraging).

Lily2: I had 2 emails sent to me about filling out the survey-one after I already had filled it out. They probably took the link to the survey off your page because you'd already completed it. (Is that what you mean, or am I confused?) 🙂
 
I just called the admissions office and the person who answered the phone said they may send out acceptances at the beginning of Feb if not this week...COME ON!!!!!
 
glacierdropsy--yup, that's what I'm talking about. So now I know I wasn't the only one who got a duplicate survey request from them. Yeah, I assumed that the survey button didn't show up b/c I already took it, but I didn't know if I should email them to tell them about it, or just ignore the 2nd repetitive email. What did you do? <img src="confused.gif" border="0">
 
Lily2: I just ignored the second email. I figured it was just a minor glitch.
 
Lily2: I would not email/call them about your problem. i had a problem with the survey too. but my problem was a little different. anyway, i called joe and he said not to worry about it. it's no big deal even if you dont fill out the survey. and he kind of laughed at it. so if i was you, i would just let it go. 😀
 
Never fear, we all got the duplicate survey email thing. Very soon you will be getting the "on hold"status and you will no longer be able to look at anything about your application. You will receive the check your status email and then the application status page will talk about how you are on hold for possible acceptance, rejection or waitlist and you will not hear from them again. Oh it also says they will post acceptance dates on the top of this page, but they aren't doing that. It would have been helpful, but oh well. That is what makes SDN so important, we can be connected and know when offers go out. Let's all hope this week will bring joyous news. <img src="graemlins/lovey.gif" border="0" alt="[Lovey]" />

Hey guys. I just got an update email from MCV that they met to review my file, so maybe they are getting ready to notify you guys who interviewed earlier. Good luck! 😀
 
If we think this wating is bad, imagine what it feels like to wait for some crucial test result to come back from the lab. If nothing else, this prossess will give us greater empathy twoards our future patients. Just trying to put a positive into the situation. 😎

Why is everyone now saying this Monday is the day? Have anyone of you been blessed with some insider information? I know I will be hanging on till at least May for my answer. I feel it in my heart that I will be one of those poor unfortunate souls that will have to wait and wait and wait and ..........................

All this waiting seems undeserved. For the last round the contacted us on Dec. 12, a few days early. So you figure that they could have extended the favor to you. I am rooting for all of you, especially Amy Beth, in hopes that you will be my classmates next year. You all seem friendly and good-hearted. You will make a great bunch of med-students to hang out with.
 
Amy Beth: hey amy, I don't know anything. I was just gussing that this Monday is gonna be the day. It may not be my day, but I have a feeling about this Monday. I know that you know otherwise about when you might hear from them, but I hope that they wise up and send you an acceptance this round.

I wonder what is going on. Last time they let people know 2 days early. What happened this time? Maybe they haven't interviewed enough people as they would have like or they are running behind on reviewing the files after the interviews. Bah, I don't know.
