MCW Class of 2010, Part 3

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
My decision on Thursday was totally valid and you know it. That was ridiculous... good learning opportunity for you, though. Communication, both between the patients and the staff and between the various departments is so key to good medicine. (Yes, I realize I sound cheesy, but I can't help it).

yanked out a central line today. wasn't exactly hard or rocket science, in fact it was easier than putting on my pants in the morning, but still, it was fun. I'm SO acing the technical skills thing. next week I'm shooting for something as advanced as helping the patient reach their TV remote.

If you like taking them out, you're going to love putting them in.

These people have too much free time.

Vinyl records are still manufactured for certain niche markets. I saw it on "How It's Made."

I remember listening to records when I was a kid. I have no idea what happended to that record player.

I think my favorite record was Alvin and the Chipmunks Christmas. 🙂

Album 1 or 2? I think I have 2 on CD.

My dad gave me all his 45s, so I have those, and a non-functional 3 speed recordplayer/radio my great-grandma gave me. It's this big wooden thing, so it looks great in my apt, I just need to get it fixed at some point.

don't remember. I was like 8. I think all the records might be in a box in our basement somewhere.

for a quick, tasty sammich that is moderately overpriced, i highly recommend The YumYum Tree in Bailey's Harbor.

Door County is the kind of place you set a whole weekend aside for and get reservations at the neatest bed and breakfast you can find.

So I went to the Yum Yum Tree today, and I got Raspberry-Blueberry ice cream. My parents and I stopped in Fish Creek for lunch. It's really pretty up there.

did you go all the way up to the tip?

No, =( we turned around after like Sister Bay or something. My mom wanted to find an apple orchard to get a caramel apple, so we had to backtrack, and then we just decided to head back.

if you care about such things, you should go back in the spring and check out Cana Island lighthouse. Fall is even better, but whenever, cause it's always beautiful (but closed to visitors sometime starting in fall through winter)

The narration of that show is about as dry as it gets.
The narration is still way better than the music. I just like watching robots and hydraulics that can slice through a half inch bolt like it wasn't even there at a rate of 10 per second. For some of those machines, they can just say "Hmmm, can it go faster?" and turn up the motor and double the productivity.

I'm definitely going to be listening to the Matrix Reloaded soundtrack a lot. I just got my hands on it, and I forgot how awesome the freeway chase soundtrack is. I need a bigger subwoofer though....

Wow, that Packer game was horribly depressing. We just handed that one to the Bears.

I don't care if you had a meeting, you made all 54 of us wait for you to get here. Blue jeans are unprofessional, but I'm going to show off my midriff for the majority of the lecture! You guys paying attention back there?

Because, you know, she couldn't have started class without me and the woman who came in after me because she was too polite to leave the meeting we were in while the DEAN WAS TALKING.

That'd be a good one to include in your evaluation. "Dr. JJ insulted us because we were late for her lecture because we were in a meeting with the dean. It was not very professional."

'twas CER, the course of a thousand components.

I can't even figure out the schedule. I'm pretty sure I have to get a secret decoder ring from Angel and then cross reference my house letter with my group number and then use the resulting formula to determine if I have CER from 2:45 to 4:45 or 3:00 to 5:00.

Nah, I should have grown a pair and left earlier or skipped the class altogether. It actually IS very rude to walk into a lecture late. I was just feeling pissy about the whole thing.

that would've been interesting to see

I suppose that if you think about it I have a pair. They're just undescended and produce the wrong hormones and gametes.

You'll need to consult Xandie on that to confirm.

If you do grow a pair, let me know. I'd like to write it up as a case report. 😉

Always a way to put a new spin on things. Of course, you can't be sure about everyone - there was a med student who "came out" on TV, announcing that she had androgen insensitivity syndrome. So, she DID have a pair, but she had them removed.

So we had our CER small group today, and I role-played a case with a med student with a sore throat. Things went well until we got to our sexual history (you have to rule out gonococcal pharyngitis), in which all five of us, including our M4 facilitator, couldn't help from giggling. I don't think I'll have a problem keeping a straight face when I'm addressing a serious medical/sexual situation, especially when you realize how hard it is for a patient to bring up certain issues, but man, it's hard to stay serious in front of an audience when you're being asked if you "give or receive the oral sex."

I heart Duck Tales.

It doesn't even sound like the American version.

I guess I'd've known it wasn't in English since the title says "German," and I have the entire song memorized in English.

Is that New Kids on the Block? My memories of them have been blocked out.

Yes, the wonders of the Internet tells me that was New Kids on the Block. It can't, of course, be an 80's group, because there are no shoulder pads and their jackets are not bright enough. Kids today have no sense of history.

I never actually listened to them. My mom did unfortunately. Pretty much past the age of 10 I listened to alternative or rock. Past age 15 just rock.

I agree about the "it can't be the 80s" remark. It was very clearly early-mid 90s.😎 I was in middle school then.

I was never with it... do I look like I am now? No... in fact, I'm listening to good ol' John Denver. =)

It sounds like my idea of the 80s... synthesizers and bad and with weird hair.

what kind of rock? any metal?

That song's ok, but my favorites are Annie's Song and This Old Guitar, Wild Montana Skies is also really good.

I think I like Country Roads because of the harmony. Vocal harmony just makes me happy. Annie's Song I am very fond of. I don't think I've heard This Old Guitar or Wild Montana Skies more than once or twice, and I don't remember them.
