So, the bottom line is that the only way to know for sure is to ask someone who is affiliated with the programs. However, based on what I can tell it seems like CPRIT-CURE is almost entirely lab based, whereas SURP can be more clinically/translational based and explicitly incorporates clinical observation. So my impression is that CPRIT-CURE has a heavier bent towards doing "hardcore" basic science research and publishing, whereas SURP is a little bit more about the experience itself.
