It seems that the stats for accepted students on mdapplicants.com site is about .2-.3 higher on GPA and about 2-3 higher on MCAT scores than stated in many of the schools' own websites/US world report book. Is this website sort of bogus? Are some people posting bogus information on there?

Since the data is only based upon the user submitted data, it's not going to give the complete picture like the school data would.

I don't think that people are posting incorrect information on MDapplicants, it's just that the people who seek out to post their information probably also are more comfortable sharing it - leading to those with higher scores to be more likely to post, while those with lower scores being less likely to post. At least that's my theory about it!

Uncanny -- I was thinking about posting the same question. One reason might be since it's a voluntary thing, it would probably attract mostly those who had higher than normal stats.

Self-selection. Just like the people on SDN have above average stats.

Don't forget to count in those people who want to stay anonymous and thus, post up slightly incorrect numbers on purpose and include their real numbers in their profiles or not at all.
